DAVID WILLETTS studied painting at Birmingham College of Art and the
Royal Academy Schools. As a lecturer at The Nottingham Trent University he
was at various times Course Leader, BA Fine Art, Head of Department and
Course Leader MA Fine Art. He was also a panel member at the Arts Council
East Midlands. Since leaving teaching he has continued to work as a full time
artist.
He works with a range of subject areas some of which he returns to each
year. The subjects relate to the whole as a continuous narrative of repetition,
change, growth, decay and renewal.They are all subjects beginning in the
studio,moving to the surrounding environment and then to other locations
further afield. The poppy is however a key subject and is repeated at
intervals throughout the whole cycle.
The images here are composed specifically for the website with each group
a small complete exhibit. The working title for the complete cycle is”Travelling
The Milky Way”.
All the work reproduced is either watercolour, acrylic, graphite or pastel.
