Helen graduated from Nottingham University with a Fine Art degree in 2014. Her final studies explored art as a vehicle for portraying contemporary social issues particularly homelessness. An installation from this work has featured in The Art of Mary exhibition at Southwell Minster. Her work is not always comfortable and can incorporate unsettling images of a ‘hidden’ reality in 21st century Britain. Helen has facilitated workshops with vulnerable people at Surface Gallery in Nottingham and has curated an exhibition of homeless people’s work in Southwell Minster. As well as ‘social art’, Helen enjoys working with a variety of materials – photography, especially images of texture in the natural world, installation and sculpture, drip and spray painting where she allows the medium to flow and express its own identity.
