Jill Langford took a Fine Art degree at Reading University, followed by a diploma in education at Oxford University. She taught for some years and then made a career in photographing childhood, producing very large black and white prints for private clients, child-psychologists and travelling exhibitions. She returned to painting some thirty years ago. Since when she has attended summer schools at the Slade School of Art and now attends the Prince's Drawing School in London. Her work divides in to two parts: Firstly oil painting which are produced in the studio from still-life objects or from detailed drawings using a pallet knife on canvas. Secondly, figure drawings which are produced in six hour sessions at the Prince's Drawing School. The discipline and struggle in both strands of the work are what gives satisfaction.
